Hanoi Cathedral (Cathedral of San Jose): the small cathedral of Notre Dame of Hanoi
San Jose Cathedral in Hanoi (Vietnam)The Cathedral of Hanoi whose name is St. Joseph's Cathedral (Nha thờ Lớn Hà Nội), is called so affectionate as the small Notre Dame, not in reference to the Cathedral of Notre Dame de Paris, but by the Notre Dame Cathedral of Saigon.
This monument stands in the center of Hanoi (very close to the Hoan Kiem). At the gates of the Cathedral of San Jose, as in the Notre Dame Cathedral of Saigona statue of the Virgin Mary would like to welcome us.

Data Hanoi CathedralIt is the oldest church of the city and headquarters of the Archdiocese of Hanoi. Built in the year 1886 by the French, it will in the neo-Gothic style. It has 5 bells, 4 small and a great campaign main (its price were 20,000 francs at the time).
The dimensions of the Cathedral are: long 64.5 meters, high 31.5 meters and width 20.5 meters.
Hours of Cathedral of San JoséReligious services are held from Monday to Sunday at 9:30. At 11:00 is officiated Mass in French. Normally the doors are open until 17:00 and free access is complimentary. As a religious issue, silence and respect are asked to access the inside.

During Christmas, the Christian community of Hanoi is often congregate in this church, reaching more than 4000 believers.

Address of St. Joseph's Cathedral in HanoiThe Cathedral of San José is located in the Nha Chung Street no. 40, just 200 metres from the Hoan Kiem (see map of Hanoi).
This location is a small square surrounded by old buildings and low. At the gates of the cathedral, on the left, there is a small cafe where young people typically meet in Hanoi in the late afternoon. In the surrounding streets, a busy restaurant street and directly opposite this, several restaurants aimed at foreign tourists.
