Roses are the most coveted flower during Valentine by the Vietnamese. On 14 February the price of roses fires, costing a bouquet of roses 150.000VND (about 5€). The price may seem ridiculous abroad but in Vietnam roses and Valentine is a very juicy business.
Students selling flowers for Valentine
During the days close to Valentines, many students decide to leave classes temporarily to devote himself to sell roses and other gifts of love through the main streets of Vietnam. This extra revenue compensates for losing a couple of days of school.
Beginning the week before Valentine roses vendors get up very early in the morning to cut roses sold throughout the day on the busiest streets of the cities. It is quite a sight to see bikes loaded to the brim with buckets of flowers through the crowded streets of Vietnam.
Vietnamese Youth and Valentine
The youngest of Vietnam, i.e. students and teenagers are the biggest consumers of Valentine. February 14 is the perfect excuse to demonstrate the love of couples, the decisive step to try to conquer the beloved person, or why not, to try to find love. Institutes, universities and recreational areas, doors are filled with articles, gifts and Valentine's day symbols if some clueless doesn't know that February 14th is coming.
