In the North of Vietnam, the Province of Ninh Binh we have at a distance 90 km to the South of the city of Hanoi. Tam Coc is the most famous of Ninh Binh. It is a natural place, which the Vietnamese call The Halong Bay on land, located 7 km to the West of the city where we will travel in boats rowing (called sampan) River Ngo Dong, that runs between rice paddies, caves and rock formations.

Almost as impressive as Tam Coc but less tourism, we have the natural Trang An Eco-Park, near the ancient capital of Hoa Lu. Trang An is an area of 1400 square kilometres of crystal clear water, vegetation, wildlife, temples, caves and caverns.

Phat Diem


In Kim Son village, 29 km from Ninh Binh, we have the Phat Diem Cathedral. Built at the end of the 19th century the Cathedral, built in wood and stone, took 29 years to finish its construction.

Phat Diem is one of the most important of Vietnam Catholic cathedrals and is considered one of the masterpieces of the Sino-Vietnamese architecture. and although most of the buildings and chapels are closed to the public, the area of Phat Diem is beautiful, since it is surrounded by an ornamental lake, presided over by a statue of Jesus Christ with open arms that rises in the middle of an artificial island in the middle of the Lake. The entrance to Phat Diem is free and the opening hours are from 7:00 to 17:30 without interruption.

Hoa Lu


In the province of Ninh Binh have to Hoa Lu, the Citadel and the ancient capital of Vietnam from the 10th century, was built by Kings Dinh and Le. The Citadel of Hoa Lu defensido system is designed in sections, using the surrounding as defensive elements (Ma Yen mountains and the River São Khe). The mountains are to the North of Hoa Lu and the rest of the sections (section East, West, and South) are protected by walls 10 meters high and half a meter wide.

The eastern section is the area of Hoa Lu where the palaces are, in this part have the temples of the Kings Dinh and Le, and the Pagoda Nhat Tru. The Sao Khe River flows through the sections of East and West, the latter being the place where the courts and the army were.

The Dinh Temple, built in honor of King Dinh Tien Hoang is located in Truong Yen Thuong, in Hoa Lu. The Dinh Temple was built by the inhabitants of the city according to the architectural principles of Feng Shui: the River at the gates of the Palace and the mountain after him. At the top of the mountain we have the tomb of the King Dinh Tien Hoang (as well as a beautiful view of the zone).

The Temple / Palace is decorated with sculptures shaped phoenix and lotus flowers, the structure and composition of the temple are axes, reminiscent of imperial tombs of Hue.

The Dinh Temple consists of a main courtyard and two rooms, where the decoration of the roof. In the main courtyard there is an small altar where the Vietnamese put incense and pray their prayers.

Le temple


200 Metres to the North of the Dinh Temple, the Temple have him in honor to King Le Dai Hanh. The temple has an architecture and decoration very similar to the Dinh Temple, the State of conversation is very good, with what can the beauty of this monument.

The temple is composed of 5 farms, in the central room have statues of Emperor Le Dai Hanh sitting on his throne and his wife, where today the Vietnamese are taking offerings. We highlight the curved ceilings finished in tip.

Bai Dinh Pagoda


Bai Dinh pagoda, located 5 km from Hoa Lu, is the pagoda of the Ninh Binh province that holds numerous records: it is the largest of Vietnam Pagoda (700 hectares), inside we have one of the largest Asian statues of Buddha in bronze (100 tons), the largest collection of statues of Arhat of the world (500 statues) and also the largest Bell of all Vietnam (36 tons).

The Bai Dinh Pagoda is located behind the mountains of rock, in the area of Gia Sinh (Ninh Binh province). Bai Dinh pagoda is name in honor of the ancient pagoda which was Bai Dinh in this place and also by the mountains.

To access the Bai Dinh Pagoda be reached via a road mile in which only small cars and motorbikes have access, that means that if we are going by bus, we can not continue beyond this point, however, we can rent a scooter for 1€ to go that way.

Cuc Phuong natural park


For flora and fauna lovers are in luck in Ninh Binh. It Cuc Phoung natural park is home to some species of flora and fauna that are difficult to find, in its interior we can see trees hundreds of years old and 70 meters in height, as well as to see birds, butterflies and orchids.
