Without a doubt the biggest attraction of My Tho are water channels along the Mekong River Tien comprising 4 Islands: the Island Dragon (with Rong), Tortuga Island (with Qui), Phoenix Island (with Phung) and the Unicorn Island (with Lan). We also highlight the Rach Mieu bridge and Thoi Son Island.

A tour of the 4 islands of My Tho normally out of Ho Chi Minh City first thing in the morning to return back to the city in the afternoon, the price is around the 15€ person, being able contract with ease at any local Office of Saigon. You can also hire private tours in the same My Tho with the Tien Giang Tourist Company company (near the river front of the Chuong Duong hotel).

Vinh Trang Pagoda
Located in the town of My Tho, this time on dry land, we have the Buddhist Vinh Trang Pagoda. Built in 1849 and with a surface of more than 14000 square meters, it is the largest province of Tien Giang pagoda. The Vinh Trang Pagoda is located about 3 kilometers from the center of My Tho.

The most striking of the Vinh Trang pagoda is its architecture, blends European and Asian architecture (colonial architecture French, romance, Thai and Cambodian, with any other influence of the Champa). The pagoda consists of a total of 178 columns.

In the back of the Vinh Trang Pagoda is a small garden with bonsai, a lake with fish and various statues of Buddha, 2 of them of considerable size.

The entrance to the Vinh Trang pagoda is free and their hours are 9:00 to 11:30 and 13: 30 to the 17: 00.
Dong Tam Snake Farm
A safe distance of 12 km from My Tho we have Dong Tam snake farm, which occupies an area of 12 hectares. Inside are exponene different kinds of snakes, as well as use their venom to medicinal treatments and also to find antidotes against their stings. The more adventurous can try cobra among the dishes of the restaurant menu. The price of admission to the Dong Tam snake farm is 20.000VND (less than 1€).
How to get to My Tho: Transport to My Tho
To enjoy My Tho most advisable is to navigate by boat from Ho Chi Minh City up the My Tho River, the journey takes approximately 1 hour. Unfortunately there are no ferry lines that make this journey and therefore to use this option you must join a group tuistico (boats accommodate up to 15 people approximately).
Due to its proximity to the former Saigon, My Tho is well connected by road by bus. There are regular bus lines that depart from the South bus station in Ho Chi Minh city, called Mien Tay bus station, ranging to the station of buses of My Tho, Tien Giang bus station, 3 km northwest of the center of My Tho (more information on the) Bus routes to Ho Chi Minh City in our forum).
As a last resort you can always rent a motorcycle or get a taxi, but for convenience and price we recommend the bus or boat.
